Covered Lactation & Feeding Support

AETNA, MERITAIN (& most other Aetna partners): Accepted. Confirm that Cassandra Christopher is showing up as “in-network” with your plan. For visits where both the lactating parent & baby are assessed, claims will be sent for both patients. Specialist co-pays/co-insurance may apply for infants and prenatal consultations. Aetna 1199 plans not covered in NYC.

UNITED HEALTHCARE (& most UHC partners including OXFORD FREEDOM, OXFORD LIBERTY & UMR): Accepted. Confirm that Cassandra Christopher is showing up as “in-network” with your plan. For visits where both the lactating parent & baby are assessed, claims will be sent for both patients.

CIGNA: CCLC can successfully bill many CIGNA plans as an out of network provider however it is imperative as of 2024 to call Cigna to confirm lactation care with an out of network IBCLC is covered under your plan before your visit (covered care will vary from plan to plan, only CIGNA can inform you what to expect).

OTHER PLANS: Blue Cross Blue Shield, GHI/Emblem Health, etc. are Out Of Network (OON). Out of network Rates Here.

CCLC Lactation Consultants no longer partner with The Lactation Network (TLN).


OUT OF NETWORK: All clients paying out of pocket will be offered electronic claim submission to their insurance company for possible reimbursement.

SLIDING SCALE: If you are experiencing financial difficulty, you may be entitled to a sliding scale rate. Please contact us before booking if you are a SNAP recipient, an employee of the DOE, have experienced lay off or job loss due, or are an essential worker.


CCLC has a strict 24 hour cancellation policy.

Any appointments cancelled within 24 hours will be automatically charged a $75 cancellation fee.

Many CCLC lactation consultants have a waiting list for appointments- cancelling inside 24 hours prevents families from getting care sooner.

Lactation Coverage and your RIGHTS

According to the Affordable Care Act, lactation counseling and supplies are to be covered in full, without cost sharing.
